Finding Clarity, One Step at a Time

Sometimes the pressure we feel isn’t actually coming from what’s happening in our life… it’s coming from the feeling that we should have it all figured out. What’s next, what’s right, how it’s all going to work out.

And when we don’t have those answers, it can create this quiet tension in the background… like we need to think harder or do more until it all makes sense. But life doesn’t really work like that. Most of the time, clarity doesn’t come before we move… it comes as we move.

And when we try to figure everything out too early, we often end up feeling more overwhelmed, not less. Because we’re asking ourselves to know things we’re not actually meant to know yet.

Let’s explore that a little more.

When you look back at your own life, the things that have made the biggest difference… the things that have shifted something for you… they probably didn’t start with full clarity.

They started with a feeling. A small decision. A step that felt right at the time, even if you didn’t know where it would lead. And it was through taking that step that things began to unfold. That’s how clarity tends to work. Not all at once, but in pieces. As you go. As you allow things to move instead of holding yourself still waiting for certainty.

There’s also something else in this.

When we feel like we need to have everything figured out, it can keep us stuck in our head. Thinking, analysing, going over the same things again and again… trying to land on the “right” answer. But often, the more helpful question isn’t “what’s the full answer?”… it’s simply “what feels like the next step?” Something small. Something manageable. Something that feels just a little clearer than everything else.

And from there, things begin to open up.

Not because everything suddenly makes sense, but because you’ve allowed movement again.

A gentle reflection

Is there something in your life right now that feels heavy because you’re trying to figure it all out… when maybe just the next step would be enough?
